How to Buy Frosted Vases

What is in a glass that gives it a sophisticated and refined appeal? It is of great wonder because glass is made of such an unremarkable material, sand. Sand is transformed into glass by super heating where they liquify. It is then poured in a mold and transformed into usable form as a vase, window pane, bottle, and many more. One of the most popular uses of glass is as a vase where flowers or light or candle can be placed. In fairy tale land, glasses are even made into slippers. But they are of no practical use to us for obvious reasons.

When it comes to vases, glass frosted vases are simply elegant and sophisticated. They are a versatile piece of décor that is suitable in even the most expensive homes and stately offices. There are also affordable pieces and yet still manage to look exquisite. Heavily frosted vases come off as white frosted vases. They have a softening effect on light so it is great to use white frosted vases as a candle holder too. The frosting has a dulling effect on bright light and making it appear like a soft glow. Glass in light bulbs is slightly frosted in order to give off this nice softening effect to an otherwise harsh glow. Many vases are also displayed as a stand alone piece of décor.

Frosting is achieved through acid etching or sand blasting a clear sheet of glass, the two most common ways of frosting glass vases. There are also automatic frosting machines for industrial applications. For vases, frosting is done as a decoration. In many vases, the glass is not frosted all over. Frosting follows a certain pattern, giving the vase an artistic look.

However, when buying frosted vases, it is recommended that you use acid etched vases as they tend to have a more even grain, good transparence, exquisite touch and have fewer flaws than those that underwent sand blasting. To try on a new vase if frosting is great, try putting something that emits light in it. If you can see light through it despite heavy frosting, it is a good frost.

A number of online shops offer limited edition vases for sale. With prices bordering around 20 dollars a piece, they come off as an affordable piece of art that you can use forever. For a unique look, you can try on the hand painted versions.
