Are you ready to give your garden and driveway that touch of Oriental ambiance? If a dull and boring garden is all that you see on the way to your house, then one of the best ways to make it alive and interesting is to add traditional Chinese planters.

You can line both sides of your driveway with chinese planters spaced at about 5 to 8 feet apart. They can serve as path guides and as a colorful addition to your driveway as well.

If you have no idea what a Chinese planter looks like, then you’re in for a surprise. The modern ones are made of aluminum, iron or hard plastic while the traditional Chinese planters are made of wood or rock. Visiting your local Chinatown hardware or garden stores will give you a chance to see these wonderful garden decors. You can surf the internet to see various types offered by online merchants.

Planters that are made in mainland China come in various sizes, shapes, materials and functionality. The basic ones are the round and rectangular wooden planters which are about the size of a shoebox. These are ideal for small flowering plants, shrubs or herbs and are easy to move from one spot to another. You can group a few of them in a dull area in your garden to liven it up.

Some planters are constructed in curious shapes yet are very functional. One China-made wooden planter is shaped like a small wheelbarrow with two front wooden wheels. This type is not only an interesting addition to your garden; you can actually use it to move your precious blooms to a safer spot in case of bad weather or if you simply just feel like moving it to another spot.

Another interesting type of Chinese-made planter is one made of Chinese fir. It is a wooden garden planter used not only as a flower pot but as a fence as well. It is a larger rectangular planter which comes with a built-in trellis on one of its long sides. This can serve as support for climbing plants and as a low fence when these planters are lined up end to end.

You can also get chinese planters made out of hand-carved sandstone. These are the types more widely used in parks, schools, villas and large estates. The more expensive ones are the larger planters made of round hand-carved antique stone.

Whichever type of Chinese planter you choose, you can be assured that they will be around for a long time to add life and color to your garden and driveway with a dash of Oriental taste and functionality as well.
